What is OCES?
OCES stands for ‘Orientation Course for Engineers and Scientists’. All the selected candidates, who wish to join, various units of ‘Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)’ through ‘BARC Training Schools’ selection process, will have to successfully complete this training program. The training program covers nuclear technology fundamentals in addition to discipline specific courses. All the successful candidates will be absorbed in the various units of ‘Department of Atomic Energy (DAE)’ as Scientific Officers. Additionally, the completion of the course may also entitle many candidates for enrollment to M. Tech program through ‘Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI)’ a deemed to be university.
What is DGFS?
DGFS stands for ‘DAE Graduate Fellowship Scheme’. All the selected candidates, who secure admission in select institutes on their own (based on valid GATE score) in specializations as specified in the advertisement, are paid stipend and tuition fee to pursue M.Tech course. After successful completion of one-year course work at select institutes, the fellows undertake project work, which is assigned and supervised jointly by a DAE and an institute guide. On successful completion of M.Tech, they are posted as Scientific Officers in DAE. On joining, they are required to first undertake a four-month Orientation Course at BARC Training Schools, which is meant to introduce them to specific academic requirements of the DAE programs.
I am frequently getting 'session expired' message. What should I do?
The 'online application form' is active only for a definite period in one session. However, 'session time' is sufficient enough to fill an application form comfortably. In case of repeated 'session expired' message, please check your browser setting and ensure that it permits 'session' cookies. I am a 'Civil' engineering discipline candidate. What should I do?
There is no written examination for the ‘Civil’ engineering discipline candidate. Short listing of the ‘Civil’ engineering discipline candidates will be done on the basis of valid GATE score. GATE cutoff score for the ‘Civil’ engineering discipline will be declared in last week of April 2010. Accordingly, you are requested to fill the application form indicating your valid GATE score and other GATE details without choosing any ‘examination centre’.
I am an engineering discipline candidate. I do not have GATE score. Can I apply ?
Yes, you can apply for written examination. Please do not enter any GATE parameter in online application form.
I am an engineering discipline candidate having valid GATE score. What should I do?
Please apply though online application process. However, it may please be noted all the OCES/DGFS-2010 engineering discipline applicants, having GATE score more than the declared GATE cutoff score (GATE cutoff score will be declared in last week of April 2010) and meeting other eligibility criteria, will be directly called for selection interview. All such applicants will not be permitted for written examination.
I am an engineering discipline candidate. I am appearing for GATE-2010. What should I do ?
It is advised to fill the application form after declaration of GATE result; however, you may apply now and submit your GATE score later.
I am a science discipline candidate (with GATE score / appearing for GATE score / without GATE score). What should I do?
You are requested to fill the online application form before January 21, 2010 (up to 6:00 PM ). You can submit your GATE score, if not available, later (before declared last date).
I have valid GATE score for year 2009, however, I am appearing for GATE-2010 also. What should I do?
You can apply now and update your GATE score later (before declared last date).
Explain the last date of application?
Online Applications would be received up to 6:00 PM on 'last date of online application' through website. Any online application, which is posted on or before 'last date of online application’, will be accepted. Any offline/manual application, which is posted on or before last 'date of postal application', will be accepted.
List the enclosures to be sent with application form?
1. Date of Birth Certificate (Xth Certificate of Board Exam)
2. Mark-lists and Certificates of qualifying degree/s including all available Semesters/ Part of BSc/ BE/ MSc
3. GATE Score Card/Certificate (if applicable)
4. Demand Draft (if applicable)
5. Age Relaxation Certificate (if applicable) - Caste Certificate -SC/ST/OBC or Certificate of being Dependents of those who died in the riots of 1984 (Dep1984) or Domicile Certificate of Kashmir Division of Jammu & Kashmir State from 01/01/1980 to 31/12/1989 (DomKashmir) and/or Certificate of being Physically Challenged
6. DODPKIA Certificate (if applicable)
7. One self-addressed envelope (10cmx25cm) affixed with Rs.5/- stamp – only for manual form – not needed with ‘data filled net form’
Explain ‘Application processing Fee’ and ‘Demand Draft’ requirement?
A non-refundable ‘Application Processing
Fee’ of Rs. 100/- (Rs. one
hundred for an online application) / Rs.200/- (Rs.
two hundred for a postal application) is chargeable from the applicants in
General and OBC categories. SC/ST applicants and Dependents of Defense
Personnel Killed in Action (DODPKIA) are exempted from payment of application
fee. Women candidates and physically challenged candidates are also exempted
from payment of application fee. The ‘Demand Draft’ is to be paid by
crossed Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favour of Accounts
Officer, BARC, and payable at Mumbai. The applicant should write his/her
name and address at the back of the DD and retain the bank receipt and
photocopy of the DD. Do not staple.
